
Lai Yi Xuan started learning the violin when she was 6 and spends 4-5 hours each day practicing. When she was a child, her parents often took her to watch classical concerts and she was captivated by a violin solo which made her want to pursue her journey in music.
Lai Yi Xuan was a student of Raffles Institution (JC) and was offered a full scholarship before graduating from RI to pursue music studies at the NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
Yi Xuan was the first prize winner of the Young Musician Competition (Singapore) in 2011 and a medalist of the Singapore Performing Arts Junior Championship 2010. She also emerged as one of the top four musicians at the Brand’s “Music Changes Lives Competition” in 2009. Yi Xuan is proficient in both the classical and electric violin and has reached an even wider audience through her many television and public appearances e.g. Prodigies of the World Concert (2010), Great Eastern International Kids Performing Festival (2011) and MediaCorp Channel 8’s New Year Eve Countdown Party 2012.
