Talking with Perseverance

We have the absolute pleasure of speaking with a lady with a heart of gold in this month’s episode of WomenTalk TV. Vivian Hina is the founder of LIPS or Ladies in the Power of Service, an informal group of volunteers with the Institute of Mental Health. Made up of Filipino domestic workers who choose to spend their one day off on Sunday volunteering, the group currently consists of 46 active members. Notonly do they spend time bringing joy to the long-term patients at IMH, these ladies also organise a variety of activities, such as excursions and performances, for them. Through her work, Vivian hopes to contribute back to society and in turn, make her family members back home in the Philippines proud. She also seeks to challenge the prevailing misconceptions that many Singaporeans have towards foreign domestic workers by showing that everyone can make a difference in the lives of others no matter where they are!
