Jainah Awang
In the third episode of our WomenTalk-SG Cares series, we had the pleasure of speaking with Jainah Bte Awang, a volunteer with a heart of gold, whose little acts of kindness has helped to bring much joy to the residents living in Marsiling. Although Jainah might not have much to start with, she still chooses to go the extra mile to help the senior citizens in her community wherever possible. More often than not, she can be found at the void deck, generously sharing what she has with the other residents, whom she treats like family. For Jainah, the friendships that she has with them are far more precious than anything else she could possibly get. Jainah’s story truly exemplifies the kampung spirit that is often missing in Singapore nowadays. By taking the extra step to get to know our neighbours better, we can then create a stronger and more inclusive society for each other.
Jainah is a senior volunteer in Marsiling who goes far and beyond for her neighbours. Despite living on government assistance, she still finds the time and energy to whip up delicious food for her fellow residents every Friday.
