Cheow Chin Wang
For the second episode of the WomenTalk-SG Cares series, we meet Cheow Chin Wang, a tech-savvy volunteer trainer in her 60s at RSVP Singapore – The Organisation of Senior Volunteers, who teaches senior citizens computer literacy skills. Her journey with technology began with her own struggles with the computer, which prompted her to sign up for classes at RSVP. A passionate lifelong learner, Chin Wang did not stop there. After being equipped with the necessary skills, she chose to draw on her personal experiences to help other elderly members in her community get acquainted with using the computer and iPad. Her transformation from student to teacher reminds us all that it’s never too late to pick up something new and that sometimes all it takes for us to do so is to step out of our comfort zone.
Chin Wang is a retired senior who has taken the initiative to master computers because of her fierce determination to be independent. She now volunteers as a Cyberguide tutor at RSVP Singapore.
