Dr Maya Bhattachan is Nepal’s first female neurosurgeon and has touched the lives of many. Her journey as a neurosurgeon started in Bir Hospital, and she subsequently went on to conduct medical camps and disaster relief work around Nepal. In addition to helping her patients, Dr Maya strongly believes in going beyond her call of duty to fight for other social problems.

In 2015, Dr Maya Bhattachan adopted a baby girl who was thrown out of a window by her drunken father, rescuing her from an abusive environment and providing her a second chance to live. Dr Maya’s desire to bring about change not just in a child’s life, but her nation’s future, is truly a source of hope to the people around her.
