June Chua is the co-founder of The T Project, a shelter for homeless transgenders. She founded this project together with her late sister because of the lack of social service support for the transgender community in Singapore. As a transwoman who underwent SRS (Sex Reassignment Surgery) at 17, June understands the tribulations and discrimination faced by transgenders in society, and hopes to empower them by providing a safe haven for them.

In 2016, The T Project has also embarked on a new initiative called The Giving Table, where members of the T project and transgender community come together to prepare a meal to raise funds that goes to improving the living conditions for those residing at The T Project’s shelter.
